Isis holds in her right hand the sacred SISTRUM which was a rattle used in the worship of Isis and Hathor, together with lotus flowers, symbols of birth and life. In her left hand she holds the sacred WAS SCEPTRE, a symbol of happiness and prosperity.

The goddess is seated between two LIONS, symbols of the sun, and when back to back as here represent YESTERDAY AND TODAY -  Osiris and Re.

The protective EYE OF HORUS adorns the border at the bottom of the painting together with a stylised version of the DJED COLUMN, symbol of continuing life.
